Leap Year

A Leap Year is any year that is not a Common Year. A Leap Year is compromised of 52 weeks plus 2 days and occurs once every 4 years, except for Century Years (which are not divisible by 400). In a Leap Year there is an extra day, February 29, which causes the days of the calendar to "leap" over the next calendar day.

For example: Christmas Day, December 25

Christmas 2005 fell on Sunday, Christmas 2006 on a Monday and Christmas Day 2007 falls on a Tuesday. But in a leap year, with its extra day causing the days to "leap" over the next calendar day, Christmas 2008 will fall on a Thursday. (thus leaping over Wednesday)

This Leap period occurs from March 01st to February 28th of the following year. So this years Leap Day will effect the calendar from March 01 2008 - February 28 2009.
